Wine List Launch
14th April 2007Goolabri Country Resort held the official launch of the new local wine list consisting of wholly and solely local wines.
Guests were able to “meet and greet” with the local wine makers and vineyard owners who provided a selection of their wines to taste.
Goolabri's aim is to support the local industry and to develop recognition of, and appreciation for the quality of wine and other produce that is coming out of Canberra and the surrounding region.
The wine launch was held in conjunction with the welcoming of our new executive chef, John Neveceral, formerly of “Mezzalira” Canberra. The event was also to create exposure for Canberra and the region which will one day rival such fabulous wine regions as the Hunter Valley, Rutherglen, Margaret River and the like, and to educate people to the many great wineries in the region that are producing multiple medal winning wines.
On the night attendees were also treated to a 5 course standing degustation consisting of;
- Crisp fried coconut prawns with a tomato and eggplant salsa, mint yoghurt, pappadam and curry oil.
- Roast vegetable strudel with rich fresh tomato sauce and creamed ricotta cheese.
- Char–grilled lemon & garlic chicken breast with chick pea puree and red coleslaw.
- Beef rib steak salt crusted on potato and artichoke gratin with horseradish aioli, rocket and extra virgin olive oil.
- Amaretto panna cotta with mixed berry compote and sugar web.
